Raised in Managua, Nicaragua, Mariana Barreto made art throughout her childhood with her father, Nicaraguan painter, photographer, and architect Samuel Barreto.  Throughout her youth, Mariana moved around the world, living in places like Okinawa, Japan, Washington D.C., Colorado Springs, Co, Providence, RI, and Los Angeles.  

Mariana Barreto currently resides in New York City.  She spent two years at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) before transferring to Art Center College of Design (ACCD), where she received her BFA in Photography and Imaging on August 20th, 2016.

Mariana is greatly influenced by both fashion and fine art photography. Her idols include Tim Walker, Steven Klein, Erwin Olaf, Francesca Woodman, Lauren Greenfield, and Elinor Carucci, to name a few.
